We have been around a long time and our roots go all the way back to the early 1990’s. Previously we were known as Southwest Raft & Jeep and operated a tourist rafting company along with a whitewater retail shop and online store. We have been operating under the same ownership since 2014. In 2025, we underwent a name change. We are now Durango River Gear which more clearly identifies who we are. We will continue under the same ownership along with all of our knowledgeable and helpful staff.
There have been many changes over the years, but we remain invested in you and our community. We continue to offer a fully stocked whitewater retail store and many water rental options to get you on the water for the day or for multiple days. We pride ourselves in trying to stock many key items like rafts, frames, oars, blades, coolers, dry boxes, kayaks, paddle boards, PFD’s, river maps, helmets, stoves, and so much more. We want everyone to feel welcome at our store and to receive the help they need to make a purchase. If you are shopping online and have a question, please call. We really enjoy talking with our online customers and helping them make a good decision. Most times we can work through some complex or unique situations to help you whether it is in person or on the phone.
We love the outdoors, and we believe that getting on the water is a great activity for everyone. It brings friends and families together while creating community and long-term memories for everyone.
